Hopping institution for traditional Argentinian-style pizza & empanadas, open since 1932.via Google

A legendary, chaotic theater-district institution serving thick, cheese-stuffed onion pizza to crowds standing at the counter.

Fugazzeta slice

Located right in the heart of the theater district, Güerrín is a massive, bustling spot that you have to see to believe. If you want the true pizzeria ambiance and want to chop it up with locals and tourists alike, the standing counter is absolutely the way to go. Plus, you can order by the slice there, whereas grabbing a table means you need to commit to at least a whole pie. We opted to stand and grab two slices: the classic Mozzarella and the Fugazzeta. As a New Yorker, my heart belongs to thin crust, but I get the hype here. The crust is thick and airy, almost like a Sicilian slice. The Mozzarella slice hits the spot with nice, salty cheese over a slightly sweet tomato sauce. The Fugazzeta is super unique—it's mostly dough infused with cheese and piled high with a massive amount of onions. I’ve never seen anything quite like it and it’s definitely delicious, though I still prefer the classic Mozzarella. These slices are incredibly heavy! Two slices were more than enough. It’s worth checking out for the history and the vibe, even if the pizza itself won't completely blow your mind.

5 Stars for the atmosphere in the standing area, for hanging out and chatting with all those cool argentinian people. 4 stars for the service, they are definitely fast, hard working and have an eye on everything but they gave me the wrong pizza (and it was not due to my bad spanish, I only handed over the receipt and wondered afterwards why my Fuggazza has no onions. But they exchanged it. The pizza itself has its own style and absolutely nothing to do with Italian pizza. This is ok because I did not expect an Italian pizza here. (E.g. I can also enjoy a deep dish pizza in Chicago). But the food is really only thick dough and onions. Nothing else. No seasoning, no tomatoes. I build a meal with the mozzarella, the onions and one dough and a loooot of their spicy sauce (not spicy at all). Would definitely recommend to try at least once and enjoy the vibes there. But would never return for the food :-)

Excellent restaurant! It's quite a fast paced environment but don't pressure yourself! Here's what to do: 1. Look at the menu 2. Order your pizza/ empanadas/ drinks at the counter. (You'll see the cash register/till) 3. You will receive a ticket with your order 4. If you order pizza, go the the pizza counter and show them your ticket. They will give you what you pizza. 5. Drinks and empanadas are on a separate counter, go there and show them the same ticket 6. Receive your drinks/empanadas 7. Use the standing areas to eat and enjoy! There are tables to sit at inside and out side but you need to speak to staff to get one. The pizza is incredible! A must try! We also had the empanadas which are baked fresh in front of you! A must!

This was my first time here. It was highly recommend to us and the pizza was great. The portions are large! 3 of us shared a Margherita pizza. It was really good. The crust was thicker than I prefer, but was tasty. The cheese was delicious and, as always, I loved the fresh basil. It's located in the theatre district of BA. I was told that this restaurant can seat 1000 people.

Guerrin never disappoints. The Pizzas are the best Pizza I have ever had. They are not thin like NYC Pizza, more like the CHicago style, but better. The dough the cheese (Muzza) and the roasted red peppers are the best.
