The experience was very disappointing. We ordered two lobster tails, and both were extremely small and completely overcooked. Another dish, a shrimp skewer, came with only five shrimp, all of them burnt and dry. The third dish was the worst: two pieces of Mahi Mahi that weren’t even hot. The sauce was decent, but the plate arrived with a spoon inside. I had never been served a dish like that. When I asked, they said it was to pour the sauce over the fish. On top of that, the rim of the plate was dirty. I returned the tostones because they tasted like old, reused oil—hard as rocks. The vegetables were chopped in a very sloppy way, and overall the dishes were visually unappealing and lacked any charm. The place itself doesn’t help either: the stairs look dirty, there’s a musty smell inside, the table was dirty, and when I asked if they could turn on a fan, they said none of them worked. The only positive thing was that the server was friendly, but that doesn’t make up for the poor food quality or the condition of the restaurant. The bill came to 160—plus 30 in tips. That’s a lot of money for such poor quality. I do not recommend this place.

Garcia’s on the Miami River is an absolute Miami classic. Fresh seafood, waterfront views, and a true family-owned atmosphere that you can feel the minute you walk in. You can tell they take pride in serving only the freshest fish and seafood, and that’s exactly why they’ve been successful at this location for so many years. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. The stone crab, fish sandwiches, and smoked fish dip were outstanding. Watching the fishing boats come in while eating right on the river makes the whole experience even better. The staff was friendly, hardworking, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. They also offer valet service, which makes visiting much easier, especially since street parking nearby can be limited. If you want authentic Miami seafood with quality, history, and great service, Garcia’s is a must-visit.

Garcia’s Seafood Grille & Fish Market – Fresh stone crab with lovely river views We tried Garcia’s Seafood Grille & Fish Market after visiting the History Museum, as we were looking for a place serving stone crab in Miami. On the ground floor, there is a seafood counter displaying different sizes of stone crab claws and other fresh catches, while the actual restaurant is upstairs. I highly recommend sitting on the outdoor terrace on the second floor — the river view is very relaxing and pleasant. We ordered large stone crab claws, which were very fresh and flavorful. The restaurant had already cracked the shells for us, so it was easy to eat — a thoughtful detail that we really appreciated. We also tried the Chilean seabass; the fish itself was nicely cooked, though the portion was a bit small. For sides, we chose mashed potatoes and fried plantains, which were just average. We also ordered a bottle of Kim Crawford, it was match perfectly with our seafood. The prices are on the higher side, but overall the ambiance and service were excellent, making it a worthwhile experience — especially if you want to try stone crab in Miami.

I’d been wanting to try Garcia’s for a while, hoping to enjoy a nice lunch with my family overlooking the river. The setting didn’t disappoint, and the food was good—nothing extraordinary, but solid. The service, however, could use some improvement; maybe it was just the server we had. Overall, it’s still a nice spot worth checking out.

Some of the best seafood I've ever had. The staff was very polite and prompt and the atmosphere was great out on the deck overlooking the Miami River. We tasted several of their signature dishes, the blackened yellowtail was incredible, the Mahi Mahi in Peruvian sauce was soook delicious, and the grilled seafood platter gave a great taste of everything else. All was cooked to perfection and I could make a beverage company out of the Peruvian sauce it was so good. Easy parking out front and worth the stop.
