Unpretentious bar with beer & mixed drinks alongside live music from a variety of artists.via Google

An intimate, unpretentious neighborhood spot hosting up-and-coming local and touring indie bands.

The perfect neighborhood bar/boutique music scene. We went to see Niina Soleil, rising star. Strong voice and fun Cali vibe. Bartenders were friendly and entertaining. Great drinks (no food menu here). The tables were spoken for, standing room only.

Soda Bar always delivers with a diverse lineup — indie, international, soul, and beyond. Small venue, big sound (bring earplugs). Good beer selection and great energy. My go-to local spot for live music. Note: no food is served here.

My favorite small music venue in San Diego, right up there with the Casbah, but I think I would give the edge to Soda Bar. Intimate venue, reasonably priced drinks, solid sound (usually), and truly incredible bartending service. Bathrooms can be a bit of a wait (only 2 singles for the whole venue), but if you plan ahead, you should be fine. This sort of venue seems to be dying pretty much everywhere, so I am grateful every time I get to see a show here.

Very chill vibe perhaps because of the acts performing that day. Spaceman Bob and Scoochie Boochie. Plenty of space maybe for the same reason. The sound wasn't as bad as I had read, so maybe they adjusted some things. I read I needed earplugs but certainly did not. Get there early and you can maybe get seating, otherwise you're standing. Only interacted with a female bartender and she was pleasant made a good Old Fashioned and wasnt whomever the reviewers that hated on staff have interacted with. Would go again I guess to see random bands I've never heard of bc that's most of the lineup
