I am not sure I can adequately describe how exceptional this hotel is. I was in town for a fishing charter and stayed at The Pearl Hotel both before and after the trip. From the moment I arrived, every interaction was outstanding. Every member of the front desk team was genuinely welcoming, professional, and eager to help. Not once did I encounter anything less than world class hospitality. The property itself is stunning, but what truly sets The Pearl apart is the level of service. This is not simply a great hotel by local standards. It is an elite hotel by global standards. The attention to detail, warmth of the staff, and overall guest experience rival some of the finest hotels I have stayed in anywhere in the world. The restaurant, bar, and pool are destinations in their own right and are worth going out of your way to experience. Every aspect of the property feels thoughtfully designed and exceptionally well executed. And then there are the beds. Quite simply, they are among the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Few hotel beds stand out in memory years later. These will. In an era where truly memorable hospitality is becoming increasingly rare, The Pearl Hotel is a shining exception. It is one of those rare properties that exceeds already high expectations at every turn. Do not skip this hotel. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was, without question, one of the best hotel experiences I have had anywhere in the world.

Cute little mid century modern hotel. The rooms are neat, clean and minimalist. There is a restaurant attached but in May 2026, it was closed on Sunday/Monday. We were there Sunday night so didn't get to try it. There are, however, many restaurants nearby (sushi, Mexican, seafood, Italian). The location is good. Walking distance to Shelter Island, easy Uber ride to downtown attractions and venues.

Friendly staff and a good location, but overall the experience was disappointing. We stayed for 5 nights and never received room service, even after requesting a sheet change. We later found out that housekeeping had to be specifically requested, but nobody explained that upon arrival. There was also no refrigerator in the room, which may have been on us for not checking beforehand. Before our stay, I asked about the parking situation and never received a response. On top of that, our key card became deactivated more than three times despite keeping it away from phones and other devices. The staff themselves were kind and friendly, the hotel itself was very cute and cozy, but overall I felt neglected and unsupported during the stay. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for anyone staying in San Diego for more than a couple of nights.

This is an amazing hotel! I've come here a couple times as a solo traveler and felt safe each time. The neighborhood is cute and super fun to explore. The service is also great and made my stay more enjoyable. The rooms were also very clean and well-maintained. The check-in process was easy and staff even gave me some of their recommendations for what to do in San Diego. The Pearl Hotel was my first ever stay as a solo traveler and I 1000% recommend to anyone who is visiting San Diego!

Awesome little motel with a 60’s theme and killer bar with restaurant with pool side private tables. Clean spacious rooms with truly amazing and friendly staff. I give this motel a five star review! The only thing I did not care for was that it is on a busy street that had loud traffic. Street bikes exc. throughout the night. I would definitely recommend this business!
